What TyBuff is
What is TyBuff?
TyBuff is an analytical software platform for self-directed investors. It brings market exploration, strategy building and back-testing, intrinsic-value estimation and portfolio monitoring into one place, powered by proprietary AI models. TyBuff is not a broker and does not provide investment advice.
Is TyBuff investment advice?
No. TyBuff provides impersonal analytical tools for education and research: you define the rules, the platform computes analytical outputs from historical data, and every investment decision remains yours. TyBuff LLC is not registered as an investment adviser with the SEC or any state securities authority.
Does TyBuff tell me what to buy or sell?
No. TyBuff evaluates the instruments that your own saved process makes eligible and displays model-generated analytical outputs based on your parameters. It never issues buy or sell recommendations.
Can TyBuff guarantee better returns?
No analytical platform can guarantee returns. TyBuff helps you research markets, test assumptions on historical data and understand portfolio behavior more clearly. Simulated results are hypothetical, and past performance — real or simulated — does not predict future results.
How is TyBuff different from other research platforms?
Most platforms let you research securities or back-test a list of tickers. TyBuff lets you define and test a complete, repeatable market process: how the universe is constructed, how instruments are ranked, how the models evaluate them, when the strategy re-evaluates, and how capital is allocated. The same saved process then keeps recalculating under identical rules going forward, on point-in-time historical data.
How the process works
What is the Strategy Builder?
The Strategy Builder is a three-step wizard: select your basket (hand-picked, or built dynamically from a Market Explorer ranking), set the timing rules, then set capital and allocation limits. TyBuff simulates the complete process across history and you can save the result as a portfolio to monitor.
What is a dynamic, point-in-time basket?
A dynamic basket rebuilds the investment universe from a Market Explorer ranking at every rebalance date of the backtest, using only the instruments that actually existed at that moment in history — including ones that were later delisted. This removes the hindsight bias of picking today's winners, an approach professional quant desks use and almost no retail tool offers.
What is survivorship bias in backtesting?
Survivorship bias happens when a backtest only considers instruments that still exist today, silently excluding companies that failed or were delisted. That inflates historical results, because the test secretly knew the survivors in advance. TyBuff's point-in-time universes eliminate this by reconstructing the market as it really looked at each date.
What happens after I save a strategy?
Each past rebalance period is frozen, so your historical results stay reproducible forever. Going forward, the same saved rules keep recalculating as new market data arrives, and you can view the current model snapshot at any time. TyBuff shows you what your process selects — acting on it is always your decision.
What do TyBuff's AI models actually do?
They form the evaluation layer of the process: after your universe and rankings decide what is eligible, the models evaluate every qualifying instrument through one consistent, asset-agnostic analytical lens. They were formed on millions of synthetic market scenarios rather than memorized stock histories, which resists overfitting by construction. The Methodology page tells the full story.
Can I control when the strategy re-evaluates?
Yes — timing is a first-class part of a TyBuff strategy. You choose the frequency (daily, monthly, bi-monthly, quarterly or a custom schedule), the day of the month, and even which months of the year are active, for example skipping August and December.
How is capital allocated in a simulation?
You set the initial capital, the maximum number of simultaneous holdings, and whether profits compound. When more instruments qualify than there are free slots, a priority rule decides: a predictable standard order, or AI-ranked priorities that favor risk-adjusted steadiness, recent momentum, or resilience near recent highs.
The tools
What is the Market Explorer?
The Market Explorer ranks and screens the whole market — stocks, ETFs and crypto — by quantitative metrics such as TyPulse, TyScore, momentum, Sharpe ratio and returns, with a market heatmap and an earnings calendar. The same rankings can drive a dynamic strategy universe in the Strategy Builder.
What is TyPulse?
TyPulse is TyBuff's price-strength score. It blends momentum and trend with steadiness (lower volatility) and liquidity, so it favors strong, steady, well-supported instruments rather than the most explosive ones. It is computed from price behavior, which makes it comparable across asset types.
What is TyScore?
TyScore is TyBuff's asset-type-specific fundamental score: it condenses a company's or fund's fundamentals into a single comparable rating, using criteria appropriate to each asset class. TyPulse reads price behavior; TyScore reads fundamentals — together they give two independent lenses on the same instrument.
What is a momentum ranking?
A momentum ranking orders instruments by recent performance — in TyBuff, the 6-month return. It is a pure performance chaser: simple and aggressive, in contrast with TyPulse, which balances performance against volatility and liquidity. Both are available as ranking lenses for dynamic baskets.
What does the Intrinsic Value Calculator do?
It estimates what a stock may be worth based on its fundamentals, using Benjamin Graham's formula and a 5-year discounted-cash-flow model side by side, together with margin of safety, PEG, P/E and P/B. The output is an educational estimate to compare against the market price under your own assumptions — not a price target or a recommendation.
What is the TyBuff Screener?
The Screener is the deep-dive view for a single instrument: fundamentals, technical context and TyScore ratings in one structured page, so you can research a name before adding it to a strategy. Essential includes a light version; Advanced and Professional include the full version.
Does TyBuff cover cryptocurrencies?
Yes. The Professional plan adds a curated crypto universe covering the major coins, analyzed by the same asset-agnostic engines used for stocks and ETFs, with timing rules adapted to a 24/7 asset class.
Plans, trial and billing
How much does TyBuff cost?
TyBuff offers three annual plans: Essential at $149/year, Advanced at $349/year, and Professional at $1,399/year (EUR pricing available; taxes may apply depending on your location). Advanced is the most popular tier and includes the 14-day free trial.
What is the difference between Dynamic-Lite and the full dynamic engine?
Advanced includes Dynamic-Lite: one saved dynamic portfolio, a Top 10 ranking size and a 4-year backtest window. Professional unlocks the full engine: multiple saved dynamic portfolios, rankings up to Top 30, an 8-year backtest window and crypto universes.
Is there a free trial?
Yes — a 14-day free trial of the Advanced plan. A card is required but nothing is charged if you cancel before the trial ends, and TyBuff emails you a reminder three days before the first charge.
Can I cancel or change my plan?
Yes, at any time from Account Settings → Billing portal. If you cancel, your access continues until the end of the paid period. Upgrades take effect immediately.
Data and trust
Where does TyBuff's market data come from?
TyBuff uses professional end-of-day (EOD) market data covering stocks, ETFs and crypto, updated after each trading day, plus regularly refreshed fundamentals. Point-in-time historical coverage includes delisted instruments, which is what makes honest backtesting possible.
Are TyBuff's results reproducible?
Yes, by design. Saved dynamic baskets freeze each historical period so results never drift, and the analytical engines are version-controlled: any change must reproduce the previously verified outputs exactly before it ships.
Does TyBuff connect to my brokerage account or handle my money?
No. TyBuff never executes trades, never holds funds and never asks for brokerage credentials. It is analytical software only — everything you do with your actual accounts happens entirely outside TyBuff, at your own discretion.
